No Use For A Name were one of my favorite bands as a teen. I always wore a T-Shirt or cap sporting their logo. One of my first ever bands used to cover their track Justified Black Eye. Their debut Fat Wreck Chords release The Daily Grind was a massive influence on how I played guitar. It’s funny thinking about how influential they were to me now because I can bet a lot of people still have never heard of NUFAN. I’ll put it into perspective. In 1999 Dave Grohl poached their guitarist Chris Shiflett to join rock legends Foo Fighters. Need I say more?

So I want to give a little tribute to lead vocalist Tony Sly who sadly passed away yesterday from unknown causes aged 41. He gave us inspiration and great songs for so many years. He will be sadly missed.
