I’ll be taking a different approach to my top 5 comics of the week to watch out for, which I have done the last few weeks and looking mixture of hot books and ones that might just be good reads.

First up is the Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom #1 (1of4) by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee. Cliff Secord dons his brown leather jacket, rocket and helmt to become the Rocketeer and take to the skies once again in what promises to be a big adventure story. I have never read a Rocketeer comics but this looks like a good place to start.

Next up with Amazing Spiderman #692 by the team of Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos who bring us the 50th anniversary issue of everyone’s favourite web-spinner. This is an over-sized issue which introduces us to Spidermans sidekick – Alpha. Marvel unlike DC Comics aren’t well-known for their sidekicks so it will be interesting to see how long Alpha sticks around for. Also this issue promises lots of variant covers which are all decade themed. The one that caught my eye was the 70’s themed one with Gwen Stacy:

Lastly the end has arrived for Vertigo title – Scalped with the final issue #60 hitting comic book stores tomorrow by the team of Jason Aaron, R. M. Guera and Jock. Unfortunately all good things must come to and end. If Scalped doesn’t make comic of the week then look for article on this series later in the week.

Have fun everyone tomorrow when your comics hit the shelves and digital airwaves!

What comics are you picking up?
