If you remember my post on the Top 5 Olympic Memes, you should be familiar with what Lolcats are. Essentially, they are pictures of cats doing hilarious (or lolzy) things. You can find thousands of funny feline photos over at icanhas.cheezburger.com, the central hub for all things Lolcat. How could anybody ever hate something so adorable?
Well… I kind of do.
I know, I know, you probably think I’m a monster, right? Well, the more observant readers among you may have noticed that my name is “GrammarGirl1991” – I am not ashamed to admit that I am a full-blown Grammar Nazi (not to be confused with the National Socialist variety). Lolcats are notorious for their awful spelling and grammar, and that really grinds my gears.
Granted, they are the epitome of cute, but I struggle to overlook the fact that their captions look like they’ve been written by Borat. Speaking of which…
Having said all that, I just can’t resist looking at them! They’re like an infuriating addiction. A furry, badly-worded obsession. So, without further ado, here are a few of my favourite Lolcats.
