Among the best known tales in Japanese history, 47 Ronin by Mike Richardson (The Secret) and Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo) epitomizes the samurai code of honour.

The revenge of the forty-seven Ronin, noted by one Japanase scholar as Japan’s “national legend”, tells the tale of a band of samurai, who are left leaderless after their daimyo is forced to commit seppuku, after assaulting a court official. The Ronin avenge their master and are then forced to commit seppuku themselves. The tale embodies the values of loyalty, persistence, honour and sacrifice – it is said to know the tale is to know Japan.

47 Ronin is scheduled for release on the 7th November.

And is soon to be a film (in 3D) directed by Carl Rinsch and starring Keanu Reeves. EXCELLENT!
