Last week reported the massive news that Disney had added Lucasfilm to its empire for the same price it has bought Marvel for back in 2009. MTV Geek has heard from their sources that Disney and Hasbro are in talks and this could be nothing more than whisper right now. MTV Geek have reported that there are serious talks to bring all of Hasbro’s line under Disney’s control. The acquisition would give Disney the rights to Transformers, G.I. Joe, Dungeons and Dragons, Beyblade, Battleship, Nerf, and Magic: The Gathering, My Little Pony and others.
As with Boom Studios when the Marvel deal was completed it meant bad news for them as they were no longer able to publish Disney comics and this will most likely be bad news for Dark Horse Comics with the acquisition of Lucasfilm as it is highly unlikely they will continue to publish Star Wars Comics in the long run. If Disney does indeed buy Hasbro this could also spell bad news for Paramount Studios who have the rights to Transformers and G.I. Joe and IDW who publish Transformers and GI Joe Comics.
If this happens then it would seem there is no stopping Disney and is there anymore room at Mickey’s Club House for anyone else?
Stay tuned to Geeks Unleashed for further details as they emerge.
Monopoly much? Oh see what I did there, Monopoly owned by Hasbro soon to be owned by Disney. 🙂
