What do Jamie Delano, Garth Ennis, Paul Jenkins, Warren Ellis, Brian Azzarello, Mike Carey, Andy Diggle, Peter Milligan, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, John Ridgway, Simon Bisley, Mark Buckingham, Steve Dillon, Jock, David Lloyd, Sean Phillips, Dave McKean and Glenn Fabry have in common?
They all worked on Hellblazer, which is to end in February at issue 300, the AP reports. Thanks for all the amazing stories over the years guys!
Introduced by Alan Moore during his run on Swamp Thing, John Constantine was given his own series in 1988. Initial writer Jamie Delano was interested in commenting on 1980s Britain – “it was shit, and I wanted to tell everybody”.
As with all things however, the end is only the beginning, with a forthcoming relaunch. Constantine, written by Robert Venditti (X-O Manowar) and Renato Guedes, will begin in March 2013. “I am going to come to the book and tell the best stories I can” said Venditti.
Long live the chain-smoking occult detective.
