After ‘dipping a toe’ into the deep waters of its concept last month, Comeback #2, written by Ed Brisson, with art by Michael Walsh and Jordie Bellaire, published by Image Comics, is an exciting thriller, concerned with plot rather than exposition.
As the FBI raids RECONNECT, the illegal time travel agency is thrown into chaos, trapping Agent Mark Thomas in the past. However, his troubles worsen when he loses the woman he was sent to save. Finding her and eluding the FBI will be his only way of getting home.
With its highly stylish, reminiscent of Dave Johnson covers, Comeback #2 is quite the intriguing premise. Somewhat disappointingly, it’s only scheduled for the 5 issues but if it continues at this breakneck pace, it’ll be quite the miniseries. Ed Brisson’s writing is sharp and Jordie Bellaire’s colours add depth to Michael Walsh’s art, which is not dissimilar to Charlie Adlard’s – strong facial expressions, which convey emotion well.
It’s yet another strong debut from Image Comics in what has been a stellar year for the publisher.
Comeback for more next month.
Comeback #2 is scheduled for release this Wednesday, December 19th and is published by Image Comics.
