I am glad that I have survived the expected Armageddon in December 2012. That day was among the top rumors and discussions and chit chat for 2012. So, 2012 has ended and we are entering the New Year. So let us discuss some technology gadgets which, in my opinion, were among top 10 for the year 2012.

We can talk about the Violation payment that needed to be done by Samsung, Microsoft jumping into the hardware world by introducing Surface tablets, the launch of iPad mini, Google presenting Nexus line, or Nokia trying to catch up its losses by making a move in smartphone world, all these were among top moments for the year 2012.

1. iPad 3

Let’s start with the Third Gen Tablet made by Apple as iPad 3. iPad 3 uses the iOS 5.1 with pretty Fast processing speed, an astonishing screen and with a much thinner surface. The major changes I would note in the iPad 3 are better Internet surfing, image viewing and movie sessions as compared to iPad 2.

2. Samsung Galaxy S3

When Samsung brought their gadget “Galaxy III” into the smartphone war, it surely made marks among people. They brought in the features like 4.8″ AMOLED screen. The screen has got a high durability due to inclusion of Gorrilla Glass which reflects a sharper view. Now a days, we are reading a lot about the security concern regarding the model which needs to be handled by Samsung.

3. iPad Mini

Another tablet. Another benchmark by Apple. People waited for this mini version of iPad very anxiously. iPad Mini has a 7.9-inch display, LTE feature with the storage size of 64GB. This little size did impact the experience for every person, but it is at the cost of low resolution pixels which people observe while surfing Internet, books and using apps. It uses the same iOS as compared to regular iPad.

4. Nexus 7

Google and ASUS joined together and introduced Nexus 7. It came with a dashy and beautiful design. As far as the hardware is concerned, it has quad-core Tegra 3 CPU clocked to 1.15Ghz. I believe it has shortcomings… like missing the 3G or 4G features and low storage which degrades its ranking among users. But, if you look at the price, Nexus 7 is not a bad choice.

5. Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Galaxy Note 2 is a kind of gadget which inspired me a lot as it came with a great size and bigger display backed up by Android 2.3 Gingerbread. People are giving it an interesting name as “phablet”, simply due to the concept of dual functionality of Phone and Tablet. If we look at the dark side of it then we can talk about Breakable Screen, Slow Connectivity, High charging time and simply don’t think that you can keep it in your pocket. I say if you are talking about a “Phone”, then you should be able to put it in your pocket.

6. Play Station

Sony presented another new version of PlayStation which came as 20% lighter and smaller than the 2009 PS3. If we look at it internally, it has totally changed and improved features.

7. iPad 4

Price section for iPad 4 remains the same, and one can easily say that Apple did bring a improved new tablet for us as compared to old version. It has got the features like Retina display, speedy processor and changed connector named as Lightning dock. These changes made it totally different from iPad 3.

8. Microsoft Surface

Not a bad start in hardware from Microsoft by presenting their own tablet named as “Microsoft Surface”. It came with stylish design with a “plus one” feature of having a concept of OS in it and the feel of tablet at same time. The surface also has a keyboard.

9. Kindle Fire

If I call it the best Kindle yet, then it can’t be wrong. Having features like a 7-inch tablet with HD display and a 1.2GHz dual core CPU. It doesn’t feel like a cheap device as it looks solid in the hand and it’s still comfier to hold between your thumb and fingers. It’s sea of customer-centric products provide a huge diversity of products and services to the consumer.

10. Nokia Lumia 920

Technically speaking, Nokia Lumia 920 is currently one of the most exciting phones available. The design is pretty impressive and apart from its known mapping features, optically stabilized camera and inbuilt wireless charging, it has the excellent Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system. To date, the reviews seem to be positive, but let’s wait and see if it regains the lost business of Nokia.
